These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Hirago website, applications, and related services (the "Service") operated by Hirago ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, browsing listings, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. Certain features (for example paid subscriptions) may also be subject to third-party terms (such as Stripe checkout terms) where those parties provide part of the experience.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least the age of digital consent in your country (and in any case at least 16, or older if required locally) to use the Service. You represent that the information you provide at registration and in your profile is accurate and kept up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@hirago.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
2. What Hirago provides
Hirago is an online job discovery and application platform for job seekers. Depending on the product version, features may include searching and filtering job listings, viewing employer-related information shown on the Service, saving jobs, uploading and storing a CV or resume, submitting applications through flows we provide, tracking application status where available, and optional paid plans that unlock additional capabilities (such as broader applying limits as described at checkout).
Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, Hirago does not act as your recruiter, agent, or employer. We do not guarantee that you will receive interviews, offers, or employment. Hiring decisions belong solely to employers.
3. Job listings, employers, and third-party content
Many listings and employer details are sourced from third-party data providers, feeds, or employers themselves. We aim to present useful information, but listings can change, expire, contain errors, or be withdrawn without notice. Salaries, locations, contract types, remote policies, and similar fields may be estimated, incomplete, or outdated. You should always verify critical details on the employer's official careers site or during the hiring process.
Display of a company name or logo does not imply endorsement by that company unless explicitly stated. If you notice incorrect or unlawful content, please report it to us with as much detail as possible.
4. Applications, CVs, and your responsibilities
When you apply for a role through the Service, you instruct us to transmit the application materials you select (typically including profile information and your CV) to the recipient shown in the application flow. That recipient may be the employer or a third-party applicant tracking system. Once submitted, Hirago cannot control how the recipient stores, forwards, or processes your data — their privacy notice and practices apply in addition to ours.
- You confirm that your CV and application materials are truthful, lawful, and do not infringe anyone's rights (including intellectual property and confidentiality).
- You must not submit malware, hidden tracking, offensive material unrelated to professional recruitment, or misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or right to work.
- You remain responsible for complying with any contractual or legal duties you owe to a current employer (for example around confidential information or non-solicitation) when you upload documents or apply elsewhere.
5. Paid subscriptions, billing, and taxes
Some features may require a paid subscription processed by our payment partner (currently Stripe). By subscribing, you agree to pay the fees shown at checkout, plus applicable taxes. Subscriptions may renew automatically until you cancel in accordance with the cancellation flow in your account (for example billing management linked from your account area). Unless mandatory law provides otherwise, fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started; any refund policy stated at checkout or in a separate communication prevails.
We may change subscription prices or plans with reasonable notice where required by law. If you do not accept a change, your remedy is to cancel before the new price takes effect where the product allows.
6. Licence you grant to us (user content)
You retain ownership of content you upload (such as your CV). To operate the Service, you grant Hirago a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit your user content solely for the purposes of providing and improving the Service, securing the platform, complying with law, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy — including sharing application materials with employers when you apply.
You may delete content or your account where the product supports it, subject to reasonable backup and legal retention described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-export listings or data from the Service without our prior written consent, or circumvent technical limits, rate limits, or access controls.
- Use the Service to distribute malware, conduct phishing, send spam, or harass users, employers, or our staff.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, or data; probe or test vulnerabilities without authorisation; or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Service.
- Reverse engineer the Service except to the extent mandatory law allows, or use the Service to build a competing product using our proprietary data or interfaces in breach of these Terms.
- Misuse application features (for example mass-applying with irrelevant materials, fake identities, or automated submissions that violate our rules or an employer's stated requirements).
We may investigate violations and cooperate with law enforcement where appropriate.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, branding, software, databases (where protected), and original content, is owned by Hirago or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms, we grant you no licence to our IP. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.
9. Third-party services
The Service may integrate or link to third-party services (authentication providers, payment processors, maps, analytics). Your use of those services may be subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, or remove content, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or possible legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service or your region's access. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account closure as described in our Privacy Policy, subject to completion of outstanding payment obligations and legal retention.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT LISTINGS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HIRAGO AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY LISTING OR APPLICATION, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE) IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO HIRAGO FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED POUNDS STERLING (£100) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID FEES IN THAT PERIOD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent still permitted. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hirago and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your user content, your applications, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law or third-party rights. We may assume exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification, at your expense.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence that apply to you as a consumer and cannot be contractually waived. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in the EEA or another country with mandatory local jurisdiction rules, you may also bring proceedings in your place of residence.
15. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. We will post updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where the law requires. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except that if you are a consumer and mandatory law requires explicit consent for a change, we will seek that consent.
16. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the policies they reference constitute the entire agreement between you and Hirago regarding the Service and supersede prior understandings on the same subject.
- Severability: If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control.
